(rec’d 17 – 9 – 16)
My dear Mother,
Many thanks for various letters to-day dated between the 1st & 6th all of which arrived together. Also for some Owen Seaman Verses from Father. I am sorry you have had so many letters of enquiries to answer as to my arm – it makes me feel even more of a fraud than before. We are still back in billets with nothing much to do. I went in to the local metropolis yesterday for a meal & to get a few things, but as it was he sawbath I was not very successful. Odd seems to be full of news of the Zeppelin, as of course she is in the thick of it &
seems to have a piece as a keepsake.
She also seems to have seen it on fire, which must have been a very cheering sight. My migraines are better but not right yet, however I daresay after a little repose my inside will recover itself.
It is very fine the way they are getting on against the Bosch. & this in spite of the Kaiser & Hindenburg in person shooing on the Hun. What they will be like when these lights are turned off Lord only knows.
I hope you find a good spot for your holiday & have decent weather
Love from Jack.
